It's amazing to see the trends that make it from Asia and those that do not. Lash extensions, tubed mascara, bird poo facials.....
BB Cream, otherwise known in asia as Blemish Balm was first introduced me by my Asian clients a number of years back. BB cream is an all-in-one foundation, sunscreen, moisturizer, primer, whitener, anti-wrinkle and more. It has now taken the beauty world by storm and I can't tell you how many people have asked me about it.
Last year I was interviewed by Kenya Hunt about BB cream (since I'm known to pull most of my products through Asia). You can read her article HERE. Kenya basically quotes me saying “I think it’s kind of like those all-in-one shampoo/conditioners. You can use them, but you still get the best results by using a separate shampoo and separate conditioner.”
In conclusion 'BB cream' has clogged more of my equipment and caused more congested skin with my clients than probably any other product on the market. Most of the formulas remind me of some of the original MAC makeup foundation formulas.
What's worse is a lot of people are allergic to avobenzone (including myself), a chemical used in sunscreens. Guaranteed recipe for breakouts!
Everyone has their own esthetic, but for me you won't be finding it in my bag or makeup kit anytime soon.
This fall M.S. APOTHECARY will be introducing some better options on the retail beauty scene.
