BEAUTY SECRETS FROM THE MIDDLE EAST

The magic of fashion week brings people from all across the globe to NYC. It's my favorite time of year really because I get a chance to discuss beauty secrets from women (and men) who trust me with their faces.

I couldn't help but to finally interrogate my women from Saudi Arabia and Iran as to what they do to get such thick, gorgeous lashes and brows?? Yes, you could say that it's because all women from the Middle East (and even India) have a lot of hair, but my hunch was there had to be some kind of hair growth assistance. 50 and 60 year old women just don't come with rows of lashes like that!!

They basically all confessed it simply came down to CASTOR OIL! Castor oil is associated with so many unpleasant things here in the US that it's hard to think of it for beauty, but in many other countries people use castor oil to grow their hair among many other things. Castor oil is anti-bacterial, it's very conditioning and stimulates circulation. The better the circulation in the body, the better your body is going to perform (side note: check out castor oil therapy packs).

It's best to look for cold pressed Castor Oil at your vitamin or natural food stores. It's very important to get it as pure as possible. Cleanse both your lashes and your brow area before applying castor oil. I like to dip a clean mascara wand into the castor oil and massage it through the brows and lashes.

For those of you who abuse your lashes with waterproof mascara, castor oil alone is the perfect lash conditioner. Just be careful around the eye area. Video coming soon!
