Today is a partial repost of another blog I write for called Beauty212.
I decided to do this quick repost because so many people have been emailing me about bumpy arms and ingrown hairs in their bikini lines.
There's an annoying skin condition that is common with many teenagers and adults. It's called Keratosis Pilaris aka "chicken skin". It's those hard, rough bumps that tend to be red in coloration found around the back of the arms or on the sides of the legs and even butt.
These bumps are a buildup of skin in the pores. If you try to exfoliate it just ends up irritating the skin. Retin-A helps, but in the end you make yourself more prone to the sun and skin cancer. Most people I know just pick at it endlessly making bigger bumps and scars out of anxiety.
There are easier solutions out there. A natural solution is Papaya. Papaya has a natural enzyme that eats the dead cells. You can try this mask I did a video on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZRGiq45EMg Just leave the papaya on a few more minutes than you would the face. You can also just take the papaya rind and rub it into the skin and let it work for about 8-10 mins twice a week on your arms, legs and bikini area. You will begin to see improvement pretty quickly.
Over the counter Dr. Mark Lees has created a product especially for those stubborn bumps called Resurfacing Body Lotion. The magic ingredient is a glycolic acid. I see results from this product with daily use within four to five days. My skin overall looks creamy after using his lotion. You can order it at www.marklees.com
I know when Tend Skin first came to market the formula was very effective for razor bumps, but I can't vouch for it now. Barc for men I've heard has great results. They have more info on razor bumps, ingrown hairs and more. http://www.getbarc.com/pages/prevent-ingrown-hairs I'm not sure how it is for KP.
At the end of the day it will take a product with Glycolic acid in it to help eliminate the rough, bumpy skin. There are hundreds of Glycolic acid
