ADULT ACNE AND FOREHEAD LINES

I'm seeing acne in adults all too frequently lately. Many are too quick to turn to external remedies when in fact once again it all starts with the inside! I know there are a lot of conflicting reports about the direct correlation between food and acne, but you can't dispute YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT! My famous line: Eat a Cheeto, look like a Cheeto.

Today I'm going to quickly discuss one of the silent culprits of acne and forehead wrinkles. It's coffee. It's not necessarily because of the sugar or dairy you may add to it. It comes down to good 'ol caffeine.

Terry Johnson stated in an ezine article that dehydration is one of the causes for the skin on your forehead to dry up and lose its elasticity. Keeping your body well hydrated is the easiest way to get prevent the formation of aging forehead lines.

100% of the time if I ask someone if they are drinking coffee or a lot of caffeine they respond "YES!, how did you know?" I look at the forehead and if I see acne and a dry forehead with or without lots of lines I know they are dehydrated. The likely culprit just happens to be caffeine. If they are a client I just add moisturizer to the forehead and if the lines momentarily disappear I know they are certainly dehydrated!

You might still think I'm a bit full of crap, but check out an excerpt from another article I sourced from Livestrong.com states:

One of the key problems acid-forming foods such as those containing caffeine pose is that they increase stress and inflammation in your body. Inflammation plays a significant role in acne, especially in cystic acne, which penetrates deeply into your skin and leads to pus-filled pimples. Furthermore, acidic foods reduce cells' ability to repair, which is problematic considering that acne damages skin. Reducing your intake of acid foods such as those with caffeine may help to lower inflammation, help cells to repair and improve acne.

I know for most of you giving up your coffee is the last thing you want to do so I sourced an alternative that just launched. It's called Guayusa Tea. Guayusa, native to the Amazon in Ecuador has more caffeine than other teas, however, guayusa is rich in antioxidants and polyphenols that stabilize the release of caffeine in your blood stream. The antioxidants negate the effects of the caffeine!

If you don't like green tea because of its bitterness or 'fishy taste' you will LOVE guayusa. Guayusa has no tannins which causes the bitterness in tea. I personally love the clarity it gives you without any of the effects that caffeine usually does. It also has a very sophisticated flavor to it.

So if you have acne or cystic acne I challenge you to knock out the caffeine for a week to see if it calms down your pimples, acne or rosacea. You'll be quite surprised at what happens. I always say slow down on the dairy, wheat and sugar as well while you're at it.

For the rest of you Guayusa is a lovely new discovery you're sure to enjoy! BTW Runa is the original organic import company for Guayusa tea.
