IT ALL ABOUT GOOD BACTERIA
Your gut has a very delicate balance of bacteria and when that bacteria is off from stress, eating sugar, too many processed foods or taking antibiotics, the first place for it to show up is on your skin. In particular when the intestinal system is off it appears as pimples or acne on the chin or around the hollows of the cheeks. The jawline is usually hormonal. If breakouts are around the forehead the cause is different and usually from dehydration or pore-clogging personal care products.
KOREANS HAVE THE BEST SKIN!
The Koreans have nearly perfect skin. What is their secret? Kimchi. Kimchi is basically fermented vegetables with various spices. There are hundreds of ways to make Kimchi. Food.com has a recipe you can play around with
HERE. FERMENTED FOODS ARE ALL BENEFICIAL
I first got into Kimchi when I found out that it had the potential to help detoxify pesticides. Many fermented foods like Kefir, Tempeh and Miso all supply beneficial bacteria for the body and keep the immune system intact, but kimchi supposedly holds the secret to ultimate health for the Koreans. In fact it has been named one of the top five healthiest foods in the world.
MAKE YOUR OWN
If you would like to make your own version of Kimchi I have an americanized video here. This version is super basic and looks like it would not stink up the house because it's missing the fermented fish.
WARNING: I FIND IT IS BEST TO EAT KIMCHI out at a restaurant, but be careful of the MSG. Kimchi can be VERY stinky depending on what they put into it. Should you buy some and take it home I highly suggest purchasing a MOSO bag. It will suck up the strong odors instantly.
