How extreme are you willing to go for beauty?

This Tuesday I decided to lighten things up a bit by featuring Julia Roberts' beauty scene in the movie Mirror Mirror. It may seem a bit unreal, but in fact what the movie did was combine some of the extreme anti-aging treatments that spas and medi-spas are offering on the market from bird poo facials, snail facials, snake massages, "bee-stung" lips, scorpion venom therapy , maggot therapy, and a few more. Click any of the highlighted treatments to discover more about them.

Years ago I did a story on Bird Poo facials aka Geisha facial. The only difference is the Asians dry out the poo and subject it to a UV sterilizer. It's used in Asia as a lightening treatment. Supposedly it's a favorite among celebs such as Tom Cruise and Victoria Beckham. Then again what isn't Victoria doing these days.

I've actually personally experienced the fish manicure/pedicures before at a tradeshow years back. They tickle a bit. I just can't imagine letting them work on my whole body like the Asians do. Supposedly now they are reporting these fish carry bacteria that they could transfer to us as well.

If you haven't learned by now Asians will go to any extreme for beauty. Are these therapies something we should look at more closely? If you're looking for Fear Factor beauty then perhaps. I can promise you there are some better options out there!
