BEAUTY OILS

For some of you I'm going to sound like a broken record, but for some reason people can't seem to grasp the idea of hydration.

I was at Barney's the other day. (The new beauty floor looks fantastic by the way)! I was there to meet one of the resident makeup artists when I was greeted by his receptionist/beauty expert who asked me a slew of questions about my product, Liquid Gold Cell Quench(TM). He asked me if it was as good as his Darphin beauty oil. I had to explain to him that OILS DO NOT MOISTURIZE! Oils seal in the moisture if moisture is already present. They do not give your skin moisture unless you are stepping right out of the shower and sealing it in with oil. Not to plug my product, but Liquid Gold Cell Quench contains glycerine, which is a humectant that brings moisture from the atmosphere to the skin. It works best when you add moisture with a beauty spray of some sort.

Water-based moisturizers like unrefined, whipped shea butters or emulsions moisturize, but make sure you watch out for ingredients higher on the list like alcohol, which can rob the skin of moisture. We carry an all-natural whipped shea butter at M.S. Apothecary or check out this whipped shea I found on Amazon below:
