It sometimes baffles me when doctors say that foods you eat or don't eat don't directly correlate to getting acne or even dry skin. Mind you doctors generally only get FOUR hours of nutrition in their curriculum. Some fail to get even 25 recommended hours as reported in the
NY TIMES. I bring this up today because last night I saw a client with severe acne. She's in the cycle of treating it and then only getting temporary results, which screams this is mostly coming from the inside. It's not to say that environment, pollution and lifestyle don't have a role in this as well, but arming your body with the essential nutrients your cells need in order to function is not only necessary, but common sense. Also staying away from foods that break down your cells and the body's functions is also imminent in regards to a higher quality of life.
Even though I am only a licensed esthetician and chemist with a nutrition background I find that when people cut out conventional dairy and minimize their intake of meat, completely cut out sugar, increase their essential fats, lay off the sodium and caffeine and eliminate processed foods their skin magically clears up and their dry patches go away. Imagine that!
A great way to test if your skin problems are from diet is to try to do a juice cleanse or go raw for a week. If your skin improves you need not look any further than your refrigerator or cupboard.
We have to get away from this eating just for pleasure and really look at our food as fuel. Are you loading up on unleaded gas or premium gas?
