COFFEE ZITS

In a past Tuesday Tip I spoke about how coffee can age you http://tuesdaytips.blogspot.com/2014/07/how-caffeine-may-be-aging-you.html?q=coffee because it robs the body of magnesium. Magnesium is essential in how your cells communicate and function.

Another reason coffee or caffeine for that matter can be bad for you is that it blocks the absorption of Vitamin D. You need calcium to absorb vitamin d if you take it orally. Vitamin D is also fat soluble so you also need to make sure there is fat present for it to absorb. This is one reason wild salmon is important to have in your diet. Salmon is a healthy, fatty fish with Vitamin D.

Vitamin D is necessary for our immune system. When we are deficient in vitamin D we get sick easier, contract skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis and most importantly we break out!!

When our immune systems are down bacteria has a chance to invade and cause inflammation/zits.....especially of the cyst variety. Coffee zits are found around the nose, lips, jawline or under the cheek bones. If you suspect you have a coffee zit you have one of two choices: quit coffee or increase your vitamin D (under doctor supervision). The D raises your immune system.

The best vitamin D that I have ever found is Micellized D3 from Numedica. Most other Vitamin D's are garbage because they won't be absorbed like this one. It is attached to BOTH an oil and a water molecule pretty much guaranteeing absorption.

I used to know a modeling agent that would make his models go out into the sun if they had pimples or breakouts. He was bright enough to know our own bodies manufacture Vitamin D when we go into the sun as long as we're not slathered in Sunblock.  Most of the time this solution worked. In fact, ever notice how tan people seem less likely to have zits vs their pasty white peers?

Quitting coffee to me is not the answer. A good organic cup (not a pot) of coffee (black) has great soluble fiber (to poo), filled with antioxidants (protectants) and has been proven to increase life expectancy of people reaching the age of 100. Just make sure to keep the sugar out of it and dairy to a minimum!
