2014 TOP 10 BEAUTY DO's AND DON'Ts PART 1

It's that time of year again. Time for our top 10 Beauty Do's and Don'ts!

1. DO find new ways to alleviate stress, a top source of aging.
I'm still waiting for that part in the Jetson's cartoon where technology is supposed to make our lives easier. Alas one of the top ways to relieve stress is by learning to DELEGATE! Trust me, I'm still learning this one myself. I think this video is an awesome parody on how to delegate!

2. DO keep things in your life simple...
and listen to Tom Ford when it comes to anything pertaining to beauty and appearance (not because Jay Z made a rap song about him). I've met the man on several occasions throughout my fashion career and as time goes on I find him to be a shining example of what we should aspire to. I love his quote "looking the best you can is a show of respect to those around you" (swoon). Keep things simple through prevention, not intervention.

3. DO create realistic beauty and body expectations for yourself.
I worry about the decline of self esteem and growing body dysmorphia like "human barbie" Valeria Lukyanova. Remember that life is too short to beat yourself up over what you are not and the body and face you loathe today is the one you wish you had tomorrow.

4. DO find an activity that you can have fun with
and try to switch it up to keep it fresh. Miley Cyrus must be really smart (wink). She must have known Twerking burns 120 cals in 15 mins whereas the Harlem Shake only burns 194 calories in 30 mins. If it were opposite would the American Music Awards have turned out differently?

5. DO falter and make mistakes like Jennifer Lawrence did at the Oscars.

"If you're not making mistakes, then you're not doing anything"- John Wooden. It's not worth beating yourself up over faltering on your New Year's resolutions or diet. Life and Fitness Coach Natalie Jill has some great steps towards reaching your goal:
- Create your GOAL (weight loss, etc)
- Figure out WHY you want to reach that goal.
- Create a VISION BOARD so you can see yourself achieving that goal.
- Create a realistic FORMULA to help you achieve that goal.
- Make a COMMITMENT STATEMENT to yourself including a healthy timeline.
